Hi there, i just wanted to thank you guys, for providing this game. Downloaded it last week, and spent a good part of my weekend on it ^^.

It's terribly nice to fly again in the privateer universe with much more eye-candy. Kudos to you, and coming from a linux/freebsd/mac user, thanks *a lot* for choosing a cross-platform engine. And it's cool that you also chose to do it open source.

By the way... Those talons have become tough, mmmh? I'll have a hard time doing this Oxford escort i suppose :D

You're very welcome! It's great to hear that people spend time playing this game like I did with the original.

Since most of the devs use linux/mac/bsd, cross platform was a given :)

And talons' difficulty has been fixed for the 1.0 release ;)

Yes...it's disappointing how many games choose the closed source or single platform route... especially from the big vendors...

I'm happy that making things not only cross platform but open source is becoming a fad among the fan projects, especially with the new PiArmada written in python, etc... the world is brightening when the remakes won't become abandonware as soon as the technology changes.

Likewise I think Flight Commander at least is written in OpenGL, and I remember lookin at the source way back--I figure the author would/has released it

Keep reporting any problems you encounter and hopefully our imminent 1.0 release will be a pleasure rather than a pain for everyone :-D

Just wanted to bump this thread up and echo "Thank You!" >> developers :-)

For Vegastrike as well --you guys must be big-time busy, you're all over
the Vs forums too. Major kudos.
On the subject of Open Source, damn straight. I've seen too many games/gaming
communities go down the tank *simply* because the code just choked -meaning
no one had the source and no one was there to keep it dusted off. Even with a
heavily interested "modder" community, my (old) favorite game is still under the
thumb of the eviM on$.

Thank Heaven for OSS. I look forward to becoming "at home" once again in a gaming universe that will not die at the whim of some gang of Corporate Bitches.
And don't get me wrong about the 'corporation angst' - I'd be *happy as a little girl* to pay top dollar for CD's of Open Source games... so grab some good quality CDR's, and let's have that 1.0 _with_ all the sound files :-)

Big Thanks To These Fine Programmers/developers

I have been plating the pre 1.0 Version and I love it! The new graphics are beautiful! Some minor things buggy but a good read of these boards shows they are being addressed. I now am investing hours into this game again! They say you cannot improve a classic but in this case they are wrong!

I look forward to the final version. Again, if you guys/gals setup a fundsalow paypal donation please post it, if you already have it please post it. Great work like this needs to be rewarded and compensated. Copyright issues I understand, but anyone can donate to anyone!

Thanks for your long hours with this project. Thanks for your attentivness in addressing issues within the game, this is unheard ofnowadays with software giants, and you fine people work it for free!

THANKS THANKS THANKS!!

Again very kind words
make sure you keep up with the latest pre-release to make sure you're not encountering old bug.s..this one is pre4 instead of pre2...same place

if we accepted donations and made a ton of money, do you think EA would consider making Wing Commander 6? ;)

and no, we are not accepting money

They say artists work best during the roughest conditions...

Any-hows, the game is indeed some great stuff. You better have a joystick, though.

Wow this is so cool. The wing commander series was one of the first games I started playing. Privateer had such a cool open ended story line too. Thanks for the work you guys are doing and if I can help at all let me know. I can write stories for missions and once I learn I guess mission files themselves.
