I have trying to get the mouse movement to set up the way I like it, and "Inv Drag To Steer" comes closest to what I want. However, using that method, it feels like I'm drunk. When I move the mouse just a tiny bit then stop, the ship moves as I expect it to, slightly adjusting its direction. However, when I continuously (slowly) move the mouse in a certain direction, the ship rotates VERY FAST in that direction. Due to this, there is no way to make medium/slow turns. Is there a way around this problem?

P.S. I have mouse speed set to slow and have mouse acceleration disabled.

Win XP SP2
Logitech MX500
1 GB RAM
GeForce 4 4400

you can fiddle with the MouseSensitivity variable in vegastrike.config

let us know if you find something amenable to your flying style

With Drag to Steer I can move only to 8 directions and if I move the mouse a bit ,it does a huge leap (about 1.5cm on my screen). This makes realy hard to aim anything and with another setting "Use Mouse Control" it isn't much better.

Is there any chance make the mouse behave like in Freespace or better like in WC:Prophecy? (in vegastrike.config I didn't find anything that could solve this)

The huge leap is similar to what I experience. I did try to mess with the mouse settings in vegastrike.config, but to no avail. Messing with the sensitivity seemed to do little to help the situation. If someone else wants to try, its the settings just after <!-- #warp_mouse inv_warp_mouse -->

To fruther explain the problem, it appears that the game is caching the mouse movements, so that even after you stop moving the mouse, the ship continues to thrust in that direction for a while. This is very counterintuitive, especially if you are used to other mouse-controlled flight sims.

If someone still doesn't understand what I'm talking about, change the mouse setup to "Drag to steer" (or "Inv Drag to Steer" if you like inverted mouse). Then start up the game and try to get the center crosshairs over an object as quickly as you can. You will see that the ship oversteers all the time, and keeps turning when it is obvious that it shouldn't be. It feels like I'm driving drunk.
