Hi
how do I run a Microsoft sidwinder Joystick in winxp ?
I can only run it via USB (laptop). So i cant use the standard gameport driver.
There doesnt seem to be a driver aviable as micrsoft discontinued (From thos bastards i will never even buy so much as simple mouse from them supporting a driver doenst cost that much money (!))

You can define your own joystick under control panel -- just get one that matches the number of buttons/levers/vibrators the Sidewinder has. You do lose some functionality like this tho.

(Try building a flightsim rig... the damn thing has FOUR joysticks and they all have to play nice with each other, fortunately x-plane is very flexible in this respect)

that is only for gameport joysticks
"gameport driver not correctly installed" (it is usb)

Microsoft Sidewinder

I myself have a Microshaft Sidewinder. They use the serial ports that are usually attached to your Sound Card. As for the drivers, XP has the drivers built into the OS. Its not as widely used, but they distribute the drivers with XP. Just look for Microsoft Sidewinder(Autodetect) in the game controllers section in control panel.
