Just bought gog version of wc4,need some help pls

bmills

Spaceman
Downloaded, installed and all the movies play fine but whenever actual gameplay starts my display is like cut in half and shaking. tried uninstall and a fresh download and still samething. Any suggestions? Running xp with a radeon x1950 pro graphics card if that helps any

changed resolution to 640x480 and it solved the cut in half issue but the screen is still flashing

Try giving this patch a shot. Unzip this package into your WC4 directory: https://www.wcnews.com/chatzone/attachments/dwrap-1-0-1-test4-zip.5618/

This will add a couple of different rendering modes that you can chose by putting them into a renderer.cfg file in the WC4 directory. You can choose your renderer by placing "opengl", "ddraw" or "legacy" in renderer.cfg)

OpenGL is essentially the default mode of the GOG version. This zip is currently set to ddraw. ddraw uses Direct Draw for rendering. "It does not support a good deal of features provided by OpenGL mode (pillarboxing and video adjusting for widescreen mode, etc), although it should still fix the palette issue in Win7 (which is not really an issue for you anyway, since you use XP)."

Legacy forwards the game's DirectX calls to real DirectX, bypassing the DirectX wrapper completely.
