Is radar supposed to be functional in cockpit?

I've played Privateer for years, but I really suck at the dogfights.

I am thrilled to be able to play again, curse you Microsoft for not being entirely backward compatible!

My question is, should the radar in the cockpit be functional like the original game where it would show all the ships in the area? Also, colored... I really need that since finding who is blasting away my armor usually has me spinning around and then ... sadly ... dying.

I am in the beginning ship, the Tarsus. I have tried upgrading the radar. The visual out the window is good but the little green radar screen seems dead. Although it does blink "Lock" in red.

Yes, the radar is defintiely functional - you can't survive without it. You should have grey dots in your display.

Press "h" to target the nearest hostile. Further "h" presses cycle through all hostiles in range. Pressing "t" does the same for everything that is targetable (freindlies, enemies, bases, jump points, etc.). Does any of this work for you?

Colored radars will cost you a lot of credits, but "h" should solve your problem for now (unless the radar in your install is broken for some reason).

Had the same problem on a laptop running medium detail.

On a desktop with a better graphics card, it works fine.
