Hvar'kann-Class Dreadnought

Aeronautico

Rear Admiral
What do we know about the Hvar'kann, that warship that Thrakhath flies in WC3, other than the fact that it is one of the largest warships in appear in Wing Commander?

You should really do a search on the CZ for the topic. There are countless great threads that cover this.

What do you need to know? We see one "in action" in False Colors and we learn a little bit about their further armaments (planetary missiles, anti-fighter turrets, etc.).

We know they entered service in the very last months of the war, after the Battle of Terra, as part of Thrakhath's "final solution" for mankind and we know the names of several: Hvar'kann, Vengeance of Vukar Tag and Vorghath.

How long was this thing? Wasn't it 20,000 something meters long??? I hear the Concordia was just under 1,000 meters. If this is the case, the Hvar'kann was one helluva enormous ship.

Has there been an attempt to reconcile their existence with the rest of canon?

You'd pretty much need to declare they were under construction for the entire Hakaga run and their combined investment on top of the rest of the budget was what strained the Empire's resources. Much like the Behemoth on the Confederation side being a Black Project running over the past 10 years and still not complete.

The most reasonable story would probably be that the 'final solution' ship designs in Wing Commander III (Hvarr'kanns and Bhantkaras) were originally planned for supporting the war with the Mantu that Thrakhath expected to fight after defeating the Confederation with the Hakaga fleet; when that didn't happen, their objective changed.

We tend to forget that ship design and production is a constant all around rather than a segmented linear thing -- there's someone working on designing the next generation of warships before the current one has even left the yard.

Is there any data on how many there were actually built? we see four IIRC in the cutscene near the end of WC3 (before first kilrath misson), but are they all there are?
