Help - can't see my mouse pointer!

Just downloaded beta 0.9. I was so happy to find this game online as I have enjoyed it immensely in the past - only problem is that when I play the game I can't see my mouse pointer on the screen (and thus the game is impossible to play). I'm running Windows ME... Someone please help!
