Great new super computer... can't do a thing... Need help

Okay, I just purchased a 866 p3 and it seems like I have a ton of problems, but let me focus on the Wing Commander related one. Alright, surprisingly Wing Commander 4 is completely fine, however Prophecy's video runs a little strange now. I don't know if its the DVD Rom, but the movie is really fast now. But its not just fast, it'll play a small piece of video (really small, fraction of a second) and then skip to another and then another so it appears fast. Any ideas or suggestions?

Play around with the drive's cache and read-ahead settings, try to disable hardware acceleration or full duplex for your soundcard.
 
for windoze, settings...control panel...system...performance...graphics accel slider for graphics if needed, sound card settings should be in your plug and play sound card tree. There should be two options to check.

Alright, I finally have found the problem. Its the sound card playback acceleration that is causing the video to be messed up. However, it just confuses me, Prophecy isn't that old, isn't there a patch or something so I don't have to keep adjusting the settings. I just don't want to sacrifice my computers performance to make WC prophecy work.
 
Depending on your sound card that setting really doesn't make that much of a difference... (Though it sounds important) Of course it depends on your sound card.
