game crashes and computer restarts at "loading thrust018"

Help! The game crashes and computer restarts at "loading thrust018".

Just after it says it's loading thrust018, the music starts for 1 second or so, then the machine reboots :(

I'm running windows 2003, 1024mb ram, 3g P4.

I'm amazed that apparently this game can reboot my computer.... can anyone give me some tips as to what might be causing this?

the game is not allowed to reboot your computer

your drivers are however
make sure you are running nvidia's 66 series drivers... (or whatever video card you have)

also it could be a firewall popping up asking permission while you're in fulllscreen.
try playing in windowed mode
try playing without sound

either way this ain't our fault--because you're right...the game cannot crash your computer--only drivers have that privaledge
 
yes I know... NT's HAL *should* fix that

oh well...

I thought maybe it was doing something weird as the music starts.
