Confed Vengeance

Dahan

Rear Admiral
Prologue

“This is Barbara Miles from TCN news for a special bulletin. We have received word that the Confederation Flagship the TCS Concordia has been destroyed. We do not know how many lives were lost onboard, but we have received reports that Confed forces who were present at the time of the incident have confirmed sightings of the flagship being hit by Kilrathi forces.
So once again we have received confirmed reports that the Confederation Flagship, the TCS Concordia has been destroyed by Kilrathi forces. More update will unfold as more information is brought in. This is Barbara Miles from TCN news”

The news hit me hard when I first heard about it. The Concordia, the pride of the Confederation, the most recognised ship ever in the Confederation Navy was lost along with some of the best trained officers and pilots.
They say those who served onboard the Flagship for a while often turn out to be some of the best non-coms and officers of the Confed Forces. I know because I was one of them.
The Concordia was where I made many friends some I still keep in contact and others, well lets just say that I wish they still here with me to share my fond memories.

My name is Kerrigan, Major Michael Kerrigan and I’m a pilot off the TCS Kinney. I have recently been assigned to the Kinney after spending six month in rehab after serving a stint onboard the Concordia. After receiving recommendation from Admiral Tolwyn for reassignment, I was even surprised to receive letters of recommendations from the Concordia’s previous Wing Commanders Colonel Devereaux and Colonel Blair.
Receiving from recommendation from Admiral Tolwyn was one thing, but receiving recommendations from two of Concordia’s previous Wing Commanders not to mention two of the most recognised officers in the Confederation Military was something of a shock.
I guess they wanted to see me through and hope for the best. I guess Space Forces Officers do their best to look after their own.

I was back at Sol recovering from an accident when I heard about the Concordia. I thought my career might have ended after hearing news of the lost of the Concordia. Where was I supposed to go with no assigned carrier? I was not sure if either Maverick or Angel were alive or survive the attack. But I was lucky to received word they both were not onboard when it happen nor was Admiral Tolwyn.
I guess I was lucky to know to some of people I admire and respect are still alive.

A week later after the news of the Concordia’s loss and out of rehab I received word from Confed Medical that I was given the all clear that I can return to active duty. A few days later I received orders of my new assignment to join the TCS Kinney Battle Group under the command of the Confederation 14th Battle Fleet under the command of Admiral Mardukas.

“Welcome aboard Major” said Colonel Smith shaking my hand, “welcome aboard the TCS Kinney”
“Thank you sir” returning the handshake, taking a quick look around, I could see the usual hustle and bustle of the tech teams fixing, maintaining the fighters and support crafts of the carrier, “looks like we have had a busy day?”
“Eh, we have seen better” said Smith, “the Naval Base is getting resupplies and re-enforce its position after the last attack”
“Ah yes sir. After the lost of the Concordia, I guess Command is not taking any chances with any strategic position we hold and any ships we are assigned to”
“You were assigned to the Concordia before the Kinney?” asked Smith
“Yes sir” I replied giving a moment of silence reflecting on the number of lives lost onboard.
“My deepest sympathies” said Smith “Come, I will take you to meet the Captain” as Smith lead me to the main exit lift.

“Well Major I must say” said Captain Bernadette McCallum as she review my file, “I am impressed with your record
“Thank you Captain” I replied. I wasn’t sure if she was referring to the letters of recommendations or the number of misdemeanour points I have while onboard the Concordia.
“Receiving not just one or two but three letter of recommendation from three different superiors” continued Bernadette, “normally I would be reviewing about your demerit points of misdemeanour. But I guess the letters outweigh them and your performance record does show that you do get the job done”
“Thank you Captain. Honestly I didn’t know what to expect” I said, “I just like to get back into the cockpit and fly again like every other pilot”
“Very true major” said the Commanding Officer of the Kinney, “At this stage the Battle Group is regrouping here at Vespus before we receive new orders from Command. Until then Major I will let Colonel Smith show you to your quarters and let you get yourself familiarise with the ship and crew”
“Thank you Captain” I replied saluting to the Captain and headed out of the room with Colonel Smith

The Battle Group wasn’t fully ready and there was a flight assignment briefing yet so I wonder what was going on.
I sat down at the front of the seatings with a cup of hot chocolate while waiting for the Colonel to come in while several more pilots began to come in. I didn’t recognise anyone so I read up on the last Bulletin Updates from front lines.
I think it was about 20 minutes later when the entire flight wing was already inside and Colonel Smith came in with Captain McCallum.
“At ease folks” said Smith as everyone stood to attention as the senior officers entered, “this is not a briefing but to inform you of our new assignment” there was a few whispering among the pilots about what was this new assignment the Kinney was assigned to “so without further questions I will pass over to the Captain to provide the details”
“Good afternoon pilots” said the Captain as she stood to the podium, “as of this stage everyone would be aware of the lost of the TCS Concordia and everyone would like to take a shot at the Kilrathi responsible for it” I turn to see a few nods and mumbled agreements
“Bloody shit we do!” said one of the pilots in the background, “oops sorry Captain”
“That’s alright pilot” smiled McCallum, “I do want to take a hit at those cat bastards, which explains to our new assignment”
Hang on this was interesting I think the Captain was trying to tell us something
“As from 1200 hours yesterday, the Kinney Battle Group is assigned to track down the Kilrathi Raider force responsible for taking the Concordia and its supporting forces” a large cheer erupted amongst the pilots, even I cheer at the news we received. We are getting back at the Kilrathi for hitting us and now we are going to get them where it hurts.
“As it stands” continued the Captain, “we are still awaiting supplies and the rest of the Battle Group to arrive, but for now I believe that everyone should focus on their job and be aware of the task at hand. Please do not get excited with this new assignment we have been given. Because we may be reassigned and we don’t to be given a different assignment so we have to make sure we do the job right. Until then flight briefing assignments from Colonel Smith will not commence till 1300 hours tomorrow. Dismissed”

Cardel System, Grills Quadrant, Enigma Sector
TCS Kinney
Flight Wing Recreation Room

Michael Kerrigan’s perspective

Two weeks after hearing of our main objective, I wonder how long would it take for us to track down the Kilrathi responsible for the loss of the Concordia? Personally I would like to shoot every last Kilrathi who was involved in any way possible.
But then I am asking for too much am I?

Since the news was announcement we have been running reconnaissance missions, surveys, long range patrols and escorts and nothing on the Kilrathi raiders we have been assigned to track down.
Major Janelle “Toss” McIntosh, my squadron commander of the 206th ‘Kill Team’ was getting miffed with Command not getting any results or obtained any new information about the Kilrathi raiders.
Word is that McIntosh had younger sister was serving onboard the Concordia and was posted on the Confederation Flagship just after graduation. That really suck wouldn’t it? Graduated from the Academy and you get assigned to one of the famous carriers only to last for what a few months or so?
I remember that day at the Flight Wing Recreation Room when I return from a recon run that I saw Toss by the bar having what looked like a heated discussion with the bartender. When I went in closer it was the bartender she was giving the shits with, she was actually venting off steam and complaining about the crap all about Command not giving enough information or why the Battle Group has not been able to locate the Raider Fleet.
I wanted to find that Kilrathi Fleet and give them a piece of my own mind, but these things do take time and we don’t have much to go on to where they might be. Either way Toss was showing a bad example as a squadron commander especially there were other pilots around the Rec-room especially a few junior pilots from our squadron.
“Toss, a quick word with you” I quickly walked up to her and pull her aside away from the bar
“What is Kerrigan” snapped Toss, she definitely wasn’t in the mood and was not happy at all, but then it could be the synthetic-~~~ I could smell from her breath, “what do you want?!”
“Um just to let you know that you should calm down a bit” I said indicating to the other pilots who were sitting around, “this is probably not a good time to vent out any problems you have. It has been only two weeks”
“So fracking what?” said Toss, “you think after what we been through over the last six months you think Confed would get their act together. As if the False Treaty was bad enough”
“No it is just” I started as I looked back at the pilots sitting around looking at me and Toss, “just that people are a little taken back with your attitude. You need to calm down a little bit. We are still waiting for something to happen but you know as much as everyone else does that they are trying as hard as they can to find that Kilrathi Raider Fleet. We don’t have much to follow on but you have to give them some time”
“Yeah maybe” grumbled Toss as she finally calmed herself down, “It is just so fracking frustrating. I was so pumped and ready to kill some Kilrathi backside after hearing the word from the Colonel and the Captain I would have thought they would have found where that fleet was located”
“Same here but Space is a pretty place and they can be any where making it harder for us to find them”
“Yeah maybe so” said Toss as she finished her drink which she had in her hand. Toss was about to say something when Colonel Smith’s voices was heard on the PA system.
“Pilots to Briefing room, all pilots to briefing room”
“I guess we might found out what Command has in stall for us” said Toss as she put back her glass

“So let me remind you carefully” continued Colonel Smith, “we cannot confirm if the ion trail would lead to the Kilrathi Fleet, but from the data analysis we gathered. The trail originated from the Vespus Naval Base so it could be possible it might be them but I am not getting my hopes up. But I am not also taking any chances, so we are dong this carefully and by the ways”
The Colonel went through the flight assignments for the squadrons until he reached to my squadron’s assignments.
“Zeta Wing is Nerd and Skaven” I looked back to where my assigned wingman was sitting. First Lieutenant Michael ‘Nerd’ Knights waved back when I spotted him knowing that I would be flying with a good pilot, “Zeta Wing will be flying this Flight Path” continued Smith as he was indicating the battle chart on the map viewer, “your flight will be shadowing along Alpha Wing’s flight path and determine if they may have miss anything while they are to proceed with their flight path”
“Are we to assume that Alpha Wing will be missing certain details on their flight path sir?” asked Nerd
“No” replied Smith, “Although Alpha Wing will be flying accordingly to where they are heading to with their orders, I would like to come prepare for any possibilities. That is why Zeta Wing will be shadowing Alpha Wing and provide backup if need to be” Colonel Smith went through the rest of the assignment details while I pondered about my given assignment.

“I guess that Toss calmed down a bit after you spoke to her hey Skaven?” asked Nerd over the comm.-channel
“I think she is still miffed at the moment” I replied as I continued with my scan along our current vector, “Nothing on my scopes here”
“Same here” confirmed Nerd, “Going for one more sweep. You served on the Concordia didn’t you?”
“Yeah I was. I was back at Sol recuperating from a training exercise when she got hit”
Why is it that everyone asks me about my time serving on the Concordia? Is just anyone who served on the ship some instant celebrity?
“I would have love to be assigned to that ship” said Nerd I could almost hear the hint of regret, “it would have looked good on my record”
“I don’t think it would have made much of a difference if you were assigned to the Concordia or not” I replied as I made a final pass around scanning for any anomalies, “I was just lucky to be assigned to the ship”
“What was he like?”
“What was who like?”
“You know Skaven, Blair. He has quite a reputation doesn’t he?”
“Yes he as a reputation. I don’t think it would make any difference if he was the Wing Commander or not. He did his job like every other pilot and officer on board that ship. I just think it was sad to see that he never finished his posting on the Concordia”
Damn these pilots always wanting to know about this person and that person. They seem to want to know every little detail about that ship as if they would build another ship and try to get another stab at it?
“He wasn’t onboard the Concordia when he got hit?”
“No he was in Confed-Medical for some combat injuries or something last I heard. All right, scans all done. Nothing here. Looks like Point Two is all clear here. Setting course for Point 3 on my mark…”

“Looks like everything is all cleared then” said Nerd “Let’s go and get...”
“Hold it” I cut in “I’m picking up a faint ion trail on my sensors. It’s barely there but its there” I adjusted my sensor readings, trying to figure out if what I saw is what I think it is.
“Is it?” Nerd left it hanging hoping that I would say those words
“I don’t know” I replied as I tried to get a lock on the trail switching over to different comm. channel to the Kinney, “Base One, this is Zeta One we found a faint ion trail. Unknown source at current coordinates. Requesting further orders”
“Confirm Zeta Lead” replied the Kinney’s communication officer, “Command wants to go in and follow trail. Alpha Wing will be informed of the sighting they will shadow your flight path”
“Confirmed Base One Zeta Wing out. I guess we have to take a peek and see shall we?”
“Copy that lets go and have look see shall we?”

Tolwyn’s Family Estate – Windward
England, Earth, Sol Sector

Kevin Tolwyn’s perspective

It felt strange returning home after a long absence. I did not know how I was supposed to react when I saw mother. I was happy to see her but at the same time. Even after my visit with Uncle Geoffrey, I had a strange feeling as if something has taken over him. Something good, but at the same time something bad. I could not put my finger on it but I knew in my heart that there was something wrong.

I stood along the balcony watching the ocean feeling the breeze. Everything looked so peaceful and calm; I could see the gulls flying in the wind, the family gardener tending to the roses everything look so simple. I wish everything was so simple.
When the official news of the Concordia was broadcast on the Confederation Network I was still recovering and just watch my friend die in front of me. I didn’t know what to do. After all the time these people did for me. I still owe a debt to the Colonel and to Stingray.
I requested for a front line assignment but due to my uncle’s influence I have been assigned to a staff line assignment and my uncle and I agreed that I will be on his staff for a certain period of time and then I will be allow to transfer for active front line duties.
“I thought I might find you out here Kevin” I didn’t notice my mother approaching and turn to see her walking to me “I somehow expect you would go somewhere peaceful”
“I like this spot” I replied looking back at the ocean “everything here has a some what calming effect”
“Your uncle said the same thing sometime ago” said my mother, “I recall catching up with him when he came here after he was dishonourable discharged from the court martial and the bombing of the military officers”
“He never told me about it” I replied “When I asked him about it, he told me that he tell me another time when he was not so busy”
My mother was a bit hesitant before she replied, “Your uncle said to me he recalled the last words Admiral Bainbridge said to him before he was assassinated was ‘you’re done damn good, son; I’m proud of you’. Your Uncle never got over that and I don’t think he would after hearing him hear those words and after learning that he was killed with the majority of the Fleet Staff I think that tipped him over the scale”
“I figured something like that would affect him” I replied, “I remember Admiral Bainbridge giving me a huge bear hug and complimenting me on my achievements with the Confed forces”
“He always was a likeable person” said my mother “I have always like him. He was a good friend to us” I saw her blink a few times when she mentioned about Bainbridge. Admiral Bainbridge was a family favourite and he was a regular visitor to the family estates. I remember one time he visited us when I was kid and he would pick my up and swing me around in circles. He would join us with dinner when the family was here. Mother, father, Uncle Geoff and Auntie Clara and their two sons and they would talk about many things. Most of the times they would be talking about family, friends and past memories. He was such a dear friend to us all.
“He said he saw Admiral Bainbridge shed a tear during his discharge” said my mother “I think the Admiral was visibly upset and uncertain what to do with him gone”
“I guess fate has dealt us with a second chance” I replied, believing that fate might be giving uncle a chance at redemption.
“I am not so sure” said my mother, “when I saw him come back I noticed he change and I wasn’t sure what it was. But I knew that he changed. When he returned a second time after the Battle of Terra to recover I saw something in his eyes and I was afraid to ask him”
“Afraid mother” I asked
“Afraid of becoming a monster”
“What are you talking about? Uncle would never go on a killing spree on the Kilrathi”
“Do you really think so?” asked my mother, “Do you really believe that your Uncle will not kill the Kilrathi in cold blood?”
“Uncle would kill Kilrathi like everyone of us in the forces. All for the preservation of the human race. I kill the Kilrathi as well mother and I don’t regret of doing it. Its either them or us. Personally I would see to it that the Kilrathi never be a threat to us”
“At what cost” my mother’s voice was beginning to waver a little indicating that he was a little bit stress over the conversation. She is a stubborn woman with her own views and judgement but I can’t blame her. She is my mother and I love her dearly.
I wish things were simple. “I wanted you to advance your career safely”
“Yes but I need the experience to be an able field commander. You know that and so does Uncle” she was not going to win this argument with me “I have to do this mom. I owe a debt to people which I hope to repaid”
“A debt?” mom’s attitude changed, “who do you owe a debt?”
“Colonel Forrester and Stingray”
“They were from?” asked my mother
I nodded “The Concordia. They saved my life and gave me a purpose to the Confederation. They died saving me, even thou they are dead. I promise to repay a debt to them no matter what it is”
“But how do you know when you repaid that debt?” asked mother
I turned around and headed back inside the house, “I will know” I whispered, “I will know one day”

Zeta Wing
Nav-point 3

Michael Kerrigan’s Perspective

I was a bit confused when I checked my sensors. The ion trail was faint but noticeable. Sensors did register the trail as non-Confederation so it could be Kilrathi ship or some rogue ship. Either way we were going to follow that trail.
“Standby Nerd we are going to follow the ion trail”
“Copy that Skaven” said Lieutenant Michael Knights “standing by”
“K-1, this is Zeta lead we identified an ion trail along our shadow route along Nav 3 we are proceeding to follow the trail”
“Copy that Zeta Lead” replied Lieutenant Steel, our communication officer “K-Boss orders are to follow trail and report all findings”
“Copy that Zeta out”

Kilrathi Transport
KIS Kiran-kir

Kilrathi Company Commanders Perspective

I have dishonoured my Emperor, my superiors, my soldiers, my clan, myself. I have made a choice which I believe was wrong. I argue with myself, where we ready to attack the humans.
Many suns have we war on the humans and for many suns neither one is the victor until word reaches to us of a plan to wipe out the humans once and for all.
I cheer for the opportunity to fight these humans, to see them fall before my claws but my heart says otherwise. The fight with the humans no longer fuels my heart.
Many of my brothers-in-arms have voiced their concern, many wishing not to fight no longer with the humans.
Others in my company view this as a disgrace or a sign of cowardice. I was force to take actions where I was forced to move several of the rebellious soldiers to a different compartment of the transport while those who remain loyal to me maintain control of the transport.
We all fear of returning to Kilrah. If word reaches to them of our treacherous act we would be shot on sight and our clans dishonoured. How I fear for the worst.

I look outside the view port of the bridge. Stars, million of stars I see before me, many of them a planet govern by the might of the Kilrathi Empire or by the human’s Confederation. Long have I sought after peace, peace from all the fighting, my soul begs for rest.
“We have secured the lower compartments and the rebellious soldiers” my second in command, Kiera-kur stood next to me while I looked out at the stars. Some of my subordinates were repairing some of the control stations on the bridge from the internal fighting that occurred throughout the ships. Some of the warriors have sided with me after much debate about the true intents of sending us to attacking the Terrans.
I have too much fear of what fate my warriors and I face if we are revealed to the Generals and the Emperor.
“Do you fear the Emperor?” asked Kiera-kur
“I have doubts about the Emperor” I replied “but I have no fear” knowing that I was lying I fear of what steps I should take. Maybe I should swear my allegiance to the Confederation as many Kilrathi have done in the past. I recall of Lord Ralgha nar Hhallas who joined forces with the Confederation and aided them in a great many battles.
Would I be welcome with open arms as he would?
“My Lord we are receiving a signal” called out one of the bridge operators at tactical station was monitoring
“What is it?”
“I cannot identify yet my Lord. They are not within range of full sensors reading”
“Could it be fighters from the invasion force?” ask Kiera-kur
“Possibly, but I am not certain that fighters would have made it this far on their own without refuelling” walking over to the station I looked at the radar terminal and monitored the two unidentified signals. I have a bad feeling about this.

Michael Kerrigan’s Perspective

“There it is again!” said Nerd “I’m picking up that signal again on my scopes”
“I see it too” I replied “I’m reading two possibly three signals can’t identify” the signal is too far out; damn I wish they had updated the sensors package on these new fighters. “How far til we get a clear ID on their signal?”
“At least another 20,000 clicks” said Nerd “we keep going?”
“Well we already started moving” I replied “got to finish what we started”

15 minutes later

“A Kilrathi transport out here” said Nerd “sensors read that they are badly damaged”
“It could not have made it this far with the damage it has sustained” I replied as I checked my sensor readings. The Kilrathi transport we found was badly damaged. The engines were completely shot, and sensors are detecting something pouring out the engine ports. Life support systems were barely running and the weapon systems are destroyed. I would be surprised to see if the Kilrathi had survived in that wreck.
“Do you read any other ships in the area?” I asked
“Nothing on my scopes” replied Nerd
“OK lets move in closer and see what we have”

Kilrathi Transport
KIS Kiran-kir

Kilrathi Company Commanders Perspective

“They are Confederation fighters my Lord” said the tactical officer
“Are they on an attack vector?” I asked as I looked at our sensor screens. I watched on the screen at the two blue dots that represented the humans. Strange to see two human fighters approaching us and not attacking us.
“Communications. Have they communicated with us?”
“No my Lord” said the communication operator “we receive no communication from the Terran fighters”
“Should they attack us my Lord?” asked Kiera-kur who was standing next to me, “the humans would attack with vengeance after the battle of their homeworld and the lost of many of their fighters”
“Yes the humans would bare their teeth at us for attacking them. But then the humans are ones without honour”
“….Kilrathi transport this is Major Kerrigan of the Confederation Forces identify yourselves…”
“So it appears the Confederation demand us of our identity” said Keira-kur, “can’t they see that we are Kilrathi?”
Walking over to the communication station I took the microphone and open a communication transmission to the lead fighter.
“Human fighter this is Kirvas, commander of the Imperial Guard. We are seeking asylum”
“My Lord!” Kiera-kur rushed to me “what are you doing?”
“The only thing” I replied “the only thing that would save us”

Chapter 3
Confed Sector HQ
Torgo III, Torgo System, Deneb Quadrant, Epsilon Sector

Kevin Tolwyn’s Perspective

I am so not used wearing these stiff uniforms and the collar was digging into my neck. I wonder how the heck I got myself into this mess. I suppose I did agree with my uncle that I serve with his staff.
Standing there looking at myself in the window reflection the whole white staff uniform looks a tad weird in the formal outfit and all.
My time spent with mother back at Earth was relaxing and it helped me think about my future and how I am to plan ahead, to further myself with Confed. I know I made a promise and I promise to fulfil it. To Colonel Forrester, to Stingray and to everyone onboard the Concordia.
I remember hearing Forrester’s last words at the back of my mind,

“Listen to me Kevin; I want to die saving the life of a pilot under my command. Someone I can be proud of, not a self pitying corpse”

Seeing the Colonel in that fireball made me realise the sacrifices people made. The sacrifices people would do to preserve Earth and our outlying worlds. Worlds where human beings who wish to live in peace and out of harms way. But with the arrival of the threat the Kilrathi pose, threatens that peace and the Confederation would do anything to preserve the peace and would sacrifice itself to preserve it. Uncle Geoff knew the risks and was willingly to sacrifice many to save not only from him but from others from eternal damnation.

I should have thought about this more properly, I should have sat down and talked to the Colonel, I should have
“Major, the Admiral is ready to see you now” said the secretary at the front desk
“Thank you” I handed over a data chip to her “can you please pass this data file to my mother at the Tolwyn’s Family Estate in Windward
England, Earth, Sol Sector”
“Yes Major I will”

Michael Kerrigan’s Perspective

“Repeat that Kilrathi transport” I was stunned, asylum. The Kilrathi?
“Confederation Fighters, I am Kirvas, commander of the Imperial Guard. We are seeking asylum”
“Commander, how do I know that you are not pulling my leg?”
“Pulling your leg? I do not understand” said the Kilrathi Commander “what do you mean by that?”
Oh boy this is going to be interesting “Nerd get in contact with Base One and tell them of the situation. Looks like we are going to have a problem here”
“You think this is a trick?”
“Don’t know just get on hold to Base One. Kilrathi Transport what assurances that we know that this is not a trick?”
“Confederation fighter if you can scan our ship. You should see that our transport is severely damaged. Our propulsion is done to one engine, the weapons system has been disable, we many injured Kilrathi here. If you don’t believe us, you can board us and see for yourself”
“Yeah and if I come aboard I will get cut up by you and your soldiers” I replied “No way, am I going onboard”
“I give my warrior’s oath human” said the Kilrathi Commander “if you harmed in any way your wingman can destroy us”
What the hell is that Kilrathi talking about I thought, Was the Kilrathi serious. I don’t think this is possible let alone true for a Kilrathi to let me onboard.
“Kilrathi transport, prepared to be boarded” I said “I will come onboard and see if what you say is true. Otherwise if any harm comes to me my wingman will destroy your ship when you stand. Do you understand?”
“I understand human” replied the Kilrathi Commander “you will not be harm when you board our transport”
I hope that he is not kidding I thought it is going to be one hell of time

Confed Sector HQ
Torgo III, Torgo System, Deneb Quadrant, Epsilon Sector

Kevin Tolwyn’s Perspective

Damn I did not think he would let me part of the operation. After what I have been through.

“As from 1200 hours the Kinney Battle Group in the Vespus System, Enigma Sector is currently in orbit of Vespus Naval Base received orders from High Command from Earth” said Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn “I have received the report and as well with the orders. The Battle Group is assigned to the task of finding the Kilrathi Raid Fleet responsible for attacking the Confed Sector as well the lost of the TCS Concordia”

The news came at a shock, but I felt a sudden sense of some relief of the news.
Somehow I felt strange about the news received from High Command I think some of the Admiral’s staff were showing some sign of excitement and some where showing some concern. Pulling our resources into an entire Battle Group to track down a Kilrathi Fleet responsible for the attacks in the Epsilon Sector and the loss of the Concordia seem a bit much but I guess that need something to boost morale and regain the confidence of the people in the Confederation.
The lost of the Concordia was a great shock to many, I hope that finding the Kilrathi Fleet responsible would help regain some of the confidence back into the Confederation to both the military and to the people we defend.

I looked up at the large view port in the officers mess room. I look outside at the various ships coming in and out. Carriers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, scout ships, transports. Ships of all sorts coming in and out of the Command Station.
Much of the Confederation Sector Fleet in one area, and yet I am amazed that we have not lost the fleet at all.

“Mind if I join you?” I looked up to see Colonel Weir, Geoff Tolwyn’s adjutant “please sit Major” as I tried to get out of my chair “I thought I might join you here for lunch”
“Your meeting with Admiral finished Sir?”
“No, we are having brief recess from the meeting”
“I’m guessing it is bit of a difficult meeting?”
“It is” replied Colonel Weir “the Admiral is trying to sort the parameters of the mission assignment the High Command has assigned to the Battle Group and to the Sector. High Command has order that Sector Command to assist with the Battle Group’s assignment. Although the Sector Fleet is still assign to its current duty and assignments the Fleet has been notified of the Kinney Battle Group’s assignment and to render any assistance if they are in anywhere of the vicinity.
“A man’s work is never done I suppose sir” I said taking a sip from my juice “the Admiral I’m sure wants to make sure we fully understand the nature of the order. Although I sometimes I feel that he wants to be on the Kinney Battle Group searching for the Kilrathi Fleet”
“As do I” said the Colonel “I have a cousin who was on the Vespus Station. I later learn that he died onboard the station when the Kilrathi attacked”
“I’m sorry to hear that sir” I replied “I’m sure the Kinney Battle Group will find them”
“I hope so Major” replied Weir “Because I personally would like to have everyone of those Kilrathi dead and buried”
