Can't install privateer remake

I've tries downloading from a couple of the mirrors and I keep getting a bad checksum when verifying the integrity of the archive. I am running Mandrake Linux 10.1. I download the file (via Firefox) to my home directory, change the permission to make the file executable, then run ./privateer1.0.bz2.run. Thanks for the help. I was a really big fan of Elite in the 80's and have loved the Wing COmmander games and can't wait to play.
 
Try using bittorrent to fix up a corrupted file

Us Windows users have been using bittorrent to fix corrupted downloads, since it hashes parts of a file and keeps the stuff that's dandy
 
Downloading with Firefox has in several instances borked the download. It should be downloaded with some download manager, or with bittorrent. That will get you the correct file and save some of the mirrors' bandwidth.

At least you can fix the version you downloaded in Firefox it with bittorrent
