    Questions about 'stacking", etc.

You should check the ship info section for acceleration in gravities. If you add an expansion your acceleration goes down a bit. It is noticeable, but then you can always buy the multi-thrust enhancer to counteract most the extra weight.

    Cap ships

Capships in WC3/4 and WC2 always seemed to start firing at ridiculously long ranges. Especially the Flak cannon from WC2. They rarely would hit anything, but it did add that extra bit of suspense to torpedo runs and strafing. (Note to self: Dodge those big blue bolts coming from the ralatha.)...

    Draymans had multiple turrets.

Though I could be mistaken, I remember an evil Drayman shooting at me while it was facing an opposite direction headed for a jump node. Hmm.. I'll have to load up dosbox again....

    Privateer Remake 1.0 - Bugs

When I buy a new ship from the dealer, my new ship is comes with prepackaged cargo. Usually worth alot too. Ahh, 50 robot workers to sell. I'm guessing the dealer must have been really desperate to make a sale.

    Privateer Remake 1.0 - Bugs

Turrets on centurions and orions can fire forwards through your ship. I most often see this when I first buy the ship and outfit it. After exiting and reloading the game it fixes it most of the time.

    Observations and some tips

If I remember correctly the WC1 Drayman was depicted as having 5 turrets. So the Mark II Privateer Drayman having six turrets seems very reasonable.

It looks most like a centurion from Privateer 1.

    Mantu and B5 Shadows

I was reading some ealier posts on the Church of Man thread and I got thinking. You know there are a lot of Similarities between the Babylon 5 Shadows and the Mantu or StarGods mentioned in the books and in Prophesy. The Steltek also fall into this category. Origin may have borrowed some ideas...

    Ranks

True a Commodore is not an "Admiral" rank, but he has the same pay grade as Rear Admiral lower-half in the US Navy. In our current US Navy, a Rear Admiral (O-7) will often command a small battlegroup (but not always) like a carrier and all her escorts. However, a Captain will still command the...

    That Hobbes thing.

I aggree that they were considered traitors by thier sosciety but what I meant is how human's considered them. The way we view honor is much diffrerent than the way a Kilrathi views honor.

Flight physics in current and past space sim games

One of the things I have always wanted in a space sim was the abililty to not only have superior dogfights and physics that allowed you to delvelope the slide into mastery, but also the abililty of a game engine to allow you to fly into to and out of planets. The closest to this was WCI4 where...

    The Confed Army?

I would have to agree with most everthing what you said, but just one small note. In the U.S. armed forces, the Joint Chiefs of Staff include the Marine Corps as well. The National security act of 1947 established a place for the Marine Corps on the the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Commandant of...

    That Hobbes thing.

I agree that it was pretty good for the story line that Chris Roberts made Hobbes a traitor. I would have never expected it since you fly with him since WC2. Yet I too get the feeling that the "human" noblility and honor concept of the Kilrathi as a whole is lost. Yes the Kilrathi still have...

Just out of curiosity then, where can I find a description or picture of what the insignia look like?

    Ranks

Actually if you want to get technical, the lowest flag rank in WC and in the US Navy is a Commander. This is why the rank of O-5 and higher have a reef (or scrambled eggs) on the visor of their cover. Since our navy ranks are based off Britain's who still use the rank of Commodore, you can see...

    The Confed Army?

Have you ever read Wing Commander: End Run? From this book Forstchen the author makes it clear that the Marines not only have dropships that carry troops, but also ones that carry heavy weaponry like hover tanks, and mech type units. The US Marines even today can easily use LCACs (hovercraft)...

Flight physics in current and past space sim games

Has Anyone ever played Tachyon: the fringe? I just loaded the demo of this game up and it seems to provide the happy medium that we are talking about in terms of realism and WC style of flight physics. This is also a privateer like game which makes it even more interesting. If Origin can...

Flight physics in current and past space sim games

The ships in B5 had newtonian physics and to some degree the constant accelleration of newtonian physics but for the most part, the ships in B5 were limited to maxmimum speed as well. I feel that if a new space sim game should model a new flight physics engine it should be something like B5...

Flight physics in current and past space sim games

Re: military branch Interesting. You don't find many members of us military in the WC community. I am US Navy active stationed out of Annapolis Maryland as a Midshipman at the Naval Academy. [/i] I have never played RaiderWars, but if the physics are anything similar to FreeSpace than...
