I second this. It's very sandboxy, in a good way -- it's very open-ended, with a lot of freedom. The iOS version was just updated to work on the big screen via AppleTV, and your progress is saved across all devices via iCloud. I wouldn't be surprised if the developer does an Android TV version...
Aww yeah. I remember trying this out on my Mac almost thirty years ago...and being immediately turned off by the crude DOS graphics, which were a gross thing to have in Mac ports st the time. I like to think I've acquired a taste for this style and should be able to give this a try. I've thought...
Sweet. I hadn't noticed, but I will use that.
iOS 10 on AppleTV will allow you to require use of the controller, which is a good thing, as the Siri Remote is lousy for games!
I hope you get lots of sales from the price drop. I noticed that Touch Arcade featured your game when they mentioned...
I really like this game. Good controls, and just enough complexity to be interesting. My only wish would be for iCloud saves so I could go between iPhone and iPad, and maybe Appletv someday.
Thanks for the tip! I never would have found or tried this on my own. Some of the reviews are a little harsh on the gameplay, but that's Wing Commander, too. This looks to be dripping with style and totally worth four bucks.
Touch controls are okay if you let yourself adjust to them, particularly on a big tablet. Gyro controls are about as accurate as the old analog joysticks of the olden days, which is nice for smaller devices like smartphones. Hardware thumb sticks are nice too, but the short throw isn't quite as...
Dosbox Turbo is great for Wing Commander as well as TIE Fighter, particularly on the Shield. You know what works well too? Sega CD Wing Commander via MD.EMU because of the simplified controls. This works nicely on OUYA too.
This is the best thing I have read all day. The fact that it is in Norwenglish is the best. :-)
So EA is the decision maker. That's good to know. Torches and pitchforks, anyone?
Yeah, I know this is a very old thread, and that I'm a very weird lurker. Anyway, I found this thread while searching for "wing commander source code."
I've been playing with Jedi Outcast on my Nvidia Shield (Android portable with nice controls) and it is AMAZING to see it on that hardware. The...
Looks nice. I'll need to tweak the settings to something I can read with my elderly eyes (navy on black is a bad combo) but I'm glad this is out there. Might even play a little bit via iPhone on MUDrammer.
What I liked: sense of scale, dynamic thrust model on the ships. Neat.
What I didn't like: Roberts' defensive crouch, talking about "gamers like myself" and being "sad and angry that PC gamers get no respect," and the bashing of console, mobile, and casual gaming. You'd think a pompous throttle...
